Draft, not yet in force. This text describes what Larea does today. It is waiting for review before the private beta.

How Larea handles your data

Larea keeps a model of your home. This page says what we store, who else handles it, how long we keep it, and how you delete it. Last updated 22 October 2026.

Who we are

Larea is run by [legal name and address], the controller of your personal data. Write to [privacy contact email] with any question or request about it.

What we store

  • Your account: email address and name, through our sign-in provider, and an internal user id.
  • Your plan: Free or Plus, its status and renewal date, and Stripe’s customer and subscription ids. Never card details. Deleting your account cancels a paid plan first.
  • Your homes: what you or the people you invite enter: rooms, walls, doors, furniture, finishes, building systems, and each element’s source (stated by you, read off an image, or verified by a professional). Every change is kept in the home’s history with who made it, so it can be undone.
  • Images: floor plans, sketches and photos you upload. We re-encode each one to remove its metadata (location, camera, dates) and keep only that copy.
  • Chats: your messages to the in-app chat and its replies, and how many tokens each turn used.
  • API keys: a hash of each key (never the key itself), its name and when it was last used.
  • Technical logs: requests, errors, timings and token counts. Logs never contain image contents, chat messages, share-link secrets or keys.

We do not sell your data, show advertising, or build profiles of you.

What we use it for

To run the service you asked for: show and change your home’s model, read the images you upload, answer you in the chat, let the people you invite work with you, and keep it secure. We use usage counts (such as the number of imports and the cost of chats) to set fair limits per plan. The legal basis is the contract between us; for reading images, also your consent.

Reading images and the chat (Anthropic)

The first time you ask Larea to read an image in a project, we ask for your consent. Then we send the copy without metadata to Anthropic’s Claude model, which proposes rooms and walls for you to review. Your chat messages, and the parts of your home the chat looks up to answer, are sent the same way. Anthropic processes them under its commercial terms with standard retention, and does not use them to train models. Requests may be processed in Anthropic’s default region.

Who else handles your data

These providers process data for us, under contract and only to run Larea. Your data is stored in the United States (Ohio). If you use Larea from elsewhere, it is transferred there under the providers’ standard contractual safeguards.

ProviderForWhat
ClerkSign-in and accountsYour email address, name and sign-in sessions
NeonDatabaseYour homes, their history, chats, projects and members
Amazon Web Services (S3)Image storageThe copies of plans and photos you upload, without metadata
AnthropicReading images and the in-app chatAn image you ask Larea to read; your chat messages
Vercel and Fly.ioHosting the website and serversRequests as they pass through
StripePayments for PlusYour billing name, address and card (Larea never sees the card), and invoices, kept as tax law requires

People you share with see what you share: members you invite see the project’s homes, and anyone holding a share link sees that home, read-only, until you switch the link off.

Cookies and storage in your browser

We use only what the service needs to work: our sign-in provider’s cookies, which keep you signed in, and a few settings stored in your browser (whether labels and the side panel show, light or dark view, a dismissed hint). There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, so we do not ask you to accept any.

How long we keep it, and how to delete it

  • Delete a chat from the chat panel: its messages go at once. Changes it made stay in history.
  • Delete a project from its Share page: its homes, history, chats, share links, invitations and every stored image go, for good.
  • Delete your account: your keys, chats and every project you own go with it. In projects other people own, the history of changes you made keeps an anonymous user id.
  • Otherwise we keep your data while your account exists. Backups are overwritten within [backup retention period].

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its use, and to withdraw consent for reading images (it stops future reads; it does not undo past ones). You can download any home yourself as an image or a 3D model. You may also complain to your data protection authority. To use any of these rights, write to [privacy contact email].
